Something is very wrong with Xur these days in Destiny 2, as he’s gone from a vendor who offers a range of decent stats on legendary and exotic armor to being broken every single week, with the stats all being in the sub-50 range. Bungie has acknowledged the problem, but we don’t have a timeline on a fix.
However, you know what isn’t broken? Xur’s rotating stock of weapons, which are always random rolls and while not weighted toward being better than random drops, every so often he strikes gold.
That’s the case this weekend in Destiny 2 as Xur (in the EDZ) is offering a somehow better version of the god rolled Main Ingredient Fusion Rifle he sold a while back which almost singlehandedly changed the entire PvP meta of the game, given how many people bought and used it.

The roll on the new one is:
- Hitmark IS
- Red Dot 2 MOA
- Red Dot Micro
- Accelerated Coils
- Projection Fuse
- Firmly Planted
- Tap the Trigger
- Stability Masterwork
The idea is that this version with Firmly Planted instead of Under Pressure has the potential to map enemies from even further out with an even greater stability boost when crouching, given the perk. It involves altering your playstyle a bit, but most PvP pros say that this is even better than Xur’s last. The old version caused Main Ingredient to be one of the most popular special weapons of the season, and we’ll see if the new version can have the same effect, particularly now that this is Trials of Osiris weekend for the first time since Witch Queen launched.
As for me, I just cleared the Vow of the Disciple raid for the first time, so the only fusion rifle I’m going to be using is my new Stasis Deliverance, the only one of its kind in that slot outside of Bastion. I do love fusions in PvE more than snipers, grenade launchers or shotguns. Maybe not glaives. I really like my glaive.
Regardless of whether or not you’re a big fusion person, I would probably pick this Main Ingredient up just to have it. And give it a try, as it might make you a convert. One shot, non-headshot kills at range are pretty addicting, and this thing has the potential to absolutely map people.
Xur will be around until Tuesday at reset, so you have some time, but don’t forget and wait too long.
